For the first time, they were unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1995. More than 250,000 units of these minivans were produced over the years. Technical characteristics of SEAT Alhambra I (7V, 7M)
SEAT Alhambra I (7V, 7M) minivans were 4620 mm long, 1810 mm wide and 1730 mm high. The cabin was very spacious. The rear seats could be folded or removed separately. Thus, the capacity of the luggage compartment was 256 litres for minivans with all 7 seats installed, and 852 litres – for those with 5 seats only. It could be increased to 2610 litres by removing all the rear seats.
Both suspensions were independent: the front – with MacPherson struts, the rear – with semi-trailing arms. Brake discs were installed on both vehicle axles. Road clearance reached 150 mm.
The body had 5 doors. The side doors were conventional (front-hinged), the rear – lifting. A slanted bonnet forming a single plane with the windscreen was the distinctive feature of the exterior design of these cars. This allowed achieving optimal drag coefficient and provided excellent observability.
Main versions
Over 10 versions of SEAT Alhambra I (7V, 7M) (1996–2010) were released during the years of manufacturing. Most of them were petrol. They had front-wheel drive. But the lineup included all-wheel-drive versions as well.
1.9 TDi 110 hp, a diesel version, had optimal characteristics. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 8-valve engine with turbocharger, intercooler and direct fuel injection system. Its max torque of 235 N⋅m was reached at 1900 rpm. Acceleration to 100 km/h took 19.1 seconds. The top speed equalled 169 km/h. Per 100 km, the minivan consumed 6.3 litres of fuel in the extra-urban cycle, 7.7 litres – in the combined cycle and 10.3 litres – in the urban cycle. Maximum loading capacity was 811 kg. The version was equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission.
