Technical specifications of Peugeot 407 SW (6E_)
The car was 4,763 mm long, 1,811 mm wide and 1,486 mm high. The volume of the luggage compartment varied in the 448–1,365 litres range. The road clearance was 130 mm. The car had a 5 seat passenger compartment.
The front suspension with double wishbones was quite stiff, which ensured excellent stability and good maneuverability of the vehicle. Despite this fact, it perfectly absorbed bumps, providing high comfort level for the driver and passengers. The rear axle suspension was also independent. It was of a multi-link type and had a passive steering function, but due to a series of improvements, the manufacturer succeeded in making it more predictable than in other cars of the make.
Ventilated brake discs were installed on the vehicle front axle, and non-ventilated – on the rear one.
Main versions
About 20 versions of Peugeot 407 SW (6E_) have been produced over the whole manufacturing period. Diesel, petrol and dual-fuel versions were available. All of them were front-wheel driven.
Thanks to a large number of available engines, the estate car could satisfy the needs both of high speed fans and those who gives priority to fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness. For instance, the 3.0 V6 24v version accelerated to 100 km/h in 8 seconds but consumed 10 litres of fuel per 100 km on the average. While the 1.6 HDI 16v diesel version needed 12.1 seconds for 0-100 km/h acceleration. But it was capable of covering a 100 km distance, consuming average of 5.6 litres of fuel.
The 2.0 HDiF 16V version had well-balanced characteristics. Its 320 Nm 136 hp engine was equipped with a turbocharger with intercooler, and the Common Rail fuel injection system. The estate car accelerated to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds and could reach 203 km/h. At the same time, it consumed 5 litres in extra-urban cycle, 6 litres – in combined, and 7.9 litres – in urban cycle. The loading capacity of the version reached 660 kg.
Trim levels of 407 SW (6E_)
Depending on the market, the estate car was available in the following trim levels: XS, XR, XT, ST, Comfort, Sport, Executive, Platinum, Tendance, Premium and others.
Regardless to the trim level, the car standardly had 6 airbags, as well as anti-lock braking system, speed-sensitive electro-hydraulic power steering, power windows, audio system, air conditioner and other equipment.
