The car was 4,770 mm long, 1,885 mm wide, 1,660 mm high. The luggage compartment capacity varied between 285 and 2,000 litres depending on the number of seats and their arrangement. Ground clearance was 150 mm. Both front and rear suspensions were independent. Brake discs were installed on all wheels.
The proprietary “Fold Flat System” allowed to fold all the rear seats by pressing a button, thus increasing the luggage compartment capacity by several times.
Main versions
29 versions of S-Max Mk1 WA6 minivans were released during the production years: 8 diesel and 5 petrol ones before the facelift in 2010, 7 diesel and 9 petrol ones – after it.
The 2.0 EcoBoost Powershift 240 hp version was one of the most powerful. It was equipped with a 4-cylinder 16-valve turbocharged engine with variable valve timing and direct fuel injection. Despite its compact sizes, the engine produced the torque of 340 N⋅m, ensured excellent dynamics while remaining eco-friendly and fuel-efficient. 0 to 100 km/h acceleration took only 7.9 seconds, and the top speed reached 235 km/h. The car consumed only 11.5 litres of fuel per 100 km of travel in the urban cycle, 8.3 litres – in the combined cycle, 11.5 litres – in the extra-urban cycle. Loading capacity equalled 729 kg.
The brand 6-speed automated manual transmission with double clutch – Powershift – was installed on this version. It operated fast thus improving fuel efficiency.
Trim levels of S-Max Mk1 WA6
Depending on the target market, the minivan was available with the following trim levels: Edge, Zetec, Titanium, Trend, Sport and others.
With the Sport trim level, the car could boast rich technical equipment. It had a CD-player and trip computer installed as standard, while satellite navigation and Bluetooth communication system were offered optionally. Safety system provided all possible airbags, including knee-airbag and chest-airbag. Other paid options included adaptive cruise control, tyre air pressure monitoring system, lane change assist, and parking sensors.
