Dodge Stratus I technical specifications
This saloon was one of the most compact cars in the manufacturer’s product line. The length of the body was 4,725, the width was 1,822, and the height was 1,330 mm. The road clearance was 140 mm. The volume of the luggage compartment reached 445 liters.
The manufacturer mounted independent suspension on both axles. The front one was of the double wishbone type and the rear was of the multi-link type. The front axle of the car was equipped with ventilated brake discs, while the rear one was equipped with drum brakes.
Main versions
There were five petrol front-wheel-drive versions of Dodge Stratus I. These cars could have a manual transmission as well as an automatic one. The latter was fitted with the Autostick system which allowed to change speeds manually and to control the number of engine rpm at the same time.
The most powerful was the 2.5 AT version. It was equipped with a 24-valve V6 engine with multipoint fuel injection. The output was 170 hp, its maximum torque was 230 N·m at 4,350 rpm. The car accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in 9.4 sec. Its maximum speed was 210 km/h. The fuel consumption of the vehicle per 100 km was 12.4 litres in the urban cycle and 8.7 litres in the extra-urban cycle.
Stratus I trim levels
Apart from the basic trim, there was an extended ES one. All Dodge Stratus I saloons (1994–2000) had factory installed cruise control, air conditioning, sunroof, driver’s power seat, central locking system, car alarm, front airbags and ABS. It had also power side mirrors and power windows.
The extended trim level included an on-board computer, fog lights, halogen headlights, heated side mirrors, heated rear window and depth adjustable steering column. An immobiliser and audio system with a CD changer were available for an extra fee. Apart from that, leather-trimmed interior and a keyless entry system were offered as optional extras.
