Citroën C2 (JM_) cars are small 3-door 4-seat hatchbacks, production of which was performed in Europe from 2003 till 2009. They debuted at the International Motor Show Germany in 2003. With their impressive design, excellent technical characteristics and rather high safety level, these cars could not remain unnoticed. In 2003, they won the prestigious “Golden Steering Wheel” award from the German magazine “Bild am Sonntag”, and were rated by 4 of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests. Technical characteristics of Citroën C2 (JM_)
The hatchbacks were 3666 mm long, 1659 mm wide and 1461 mm high. Depending on whether the rear seats were folded, the luggage compartment capacity varied between 193 and 879 litres. Road clearance was 120 mm.
Both suspensions were independent: the front one – with MacPherson struts, the rear – with trailing arms and torsion beam. Brake discs were installed on the vehicle’s front axle. The rear one was often equipped with drums.
Main versions
During the manufacturing years, about 10 versions of Citroën C2 (JM_) were released, most of them were petrol. All the versions had front-wheel drive.
The sport version 1.6 16V VTS was the most powerful. It had a 4-cylinder 16-valve naturally aspirated engine with multipoint fuel injection. Its max torque was 143 N⋅m. The power output reached 125 hp. The hatchback accelerated to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and could attain a speed of 202 km/h. To cover a distance of 100 km, the car consumed 9.3 litres of fuel in the urban cycle, 6.9 litres – in the combined cycle and 5.4 litres – in the extra-urban cycle. Maximum loading capacity of the version was 374 kg.
The manual transmission had 5 speeds. All braking mechanisms of this version were disc-type. Also, the car had factory-installed 16-inch low-profile tyres.
Trim levels of C2 (JM_)
Depending on the target market and production year, the following trim levels were offered for Citroën C2 (JM_) (2003–2009): VTR, VTS, L, LX, Airplay, Furio, Ambiance, Seduction, GT, Caractere, Attraction, Plaisir and others.
With the Ambiance trim level, the car could boast separate rear seats, moving lengthways and sideways, front and rear adjustable headrests, front and side airbags, adaptive power steering.
