The technical specifications of the BMW 1 series (the F20)

The BMW 1 series hatchback (the F20) was 4,324 mm long, 1,765 mm wide and 1,421 mm high. The car could accommodate 5 people comfortably. The capacity of the luggage compartment varied within a range of 360-1,200 l depending on the configuration of the rear seats. The ride height was 140 mm.

Its three-cylinder in-line engine with direct fuel injection has a relatively low power output, however, this does not affect the acceleration dynamics: the hatchback accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.7 and can reach the speed of 210 km/h. Due to the Twin-scroll turbocharger, the maximum torque of 220 Н⋅м is achieved at the wide range of revolutions: from 1,250 to 4,300 per minute, therefore, the acceleration can be easily felt both during start and speedy driving. The fuel consumption per 100 km in the urban area was 5.9 l on a highway – 4.2 l, in the mixed cycle – 4.8. The carrying capacity of the version is 565 kg.

The eight-speed Steptronic transmission provides smooth and instant gear-change and the Drive Performance system with the Comfort, Sport, Sport + and Eco Pro modes allows selecting the most appropriate programme for driving. For example, in the Eco Pro mode the air conditioning, mirror and seat heating are turned off and the acceleration slows down in order to save fuel.

The trim packages of the 1 series (the F20)

The BMW 1 series hatchbacks (the F20) are manufactured in four main configurations: Base, Advantage, Sport Line and Urban Line. There were Business and High Executive trims available on the markets of some countries. It was also possible to order the M Sport package of options.
